Learner profiling
In order to facilitate automated login procedures it can be important to also specify certain requirements a learner may have. For example, a student may wish to undertake an online course but may need to exit it only part of the way through. In such a situation it is useful for the student to be able to return to the precise point where they were up to in the course.
Another example might involve a student having completed a range of assessments at one institution and then wanting to continue studies at another institution. Such scenarios require data about the learner. Standardisation in this area enables the interchange of data between systems. Such data also has a high degree of requirement for security and integrity.
