Interoperability Standards Across the Australian Education and Training Sector

In 2007 AICTEC commissioned Croger Associates Pty Ltd to develop a research paper and accompanying draft policy framework and action plan on ICT standards across the Australian education sectors.

The Research Report: Interoperability Standards Across the Australian Education and Training Sector was accepted by AICTEC at the August 21 2007 meeting. The report focuses on cross sectoral collaboration on ICT interoperability in education and training and provides

  1. A summary of current status, gaps and opportunities
  2. A draft Collaborative Framework
  3. Recommendations for Action.

The Charter of Principles for Cross-Sectoral Collaboration on Interoperability across the Australian Education and Training Sectors was developed from the project report to AICTEC, Interoperability Standards Across the Australian Education and Training Sector, prepared by Croger Associates Pty Ltd.

The Charter provides agreed principles for cross-sectoral collaboration concerning interoperability standards across all education and training sectors.  These principles will guide processes and policies for interoperability at national, jurisdictional and organisational levels.

The Charter was endorsed by the Ministerial Council on Education, Employment, Training and Youth Affairs (MCEETYA) on 18 June 2008 and the Ministerial Council for Vocational and Technical Education (MCVTE) on 13 June 2008.
