    This information service is an initiative of the Queensland Government's Queensland skills plan. The service provides free advice, referrals and support for Queensland apprentices, trainees and employers.

    The first Australian Apprenticeships Roundtable meeting for 2008 was held in Canberra from 2 to 4 June 2008. Following a nomination process 31 Australian Apprentices were selected to reflect a broad set of experiences, including trade and non-trade apprentices/trainees, apprentices and trainees from large, medium and small enterprises; school-age, post-school, mid-career and mature-age apprentices and trainees and those from across urban and rural areas of Australia. On this website are a number of surveys on topics including industrial and workplace, commencement and retention, future focus, training and learning quality, and information and communication.

    This presentation is provided by the Australian Apprenticeships Training Information Service. It explains what Australian Apprenticeships are; their relationship to training packages; how they relate to qualifications; and how they benefit business. There is a description of who can participate; their employment options; and information about government agencies. Frequently asked questions by employers are: What's in it for me? What assistance is available? What are my obligations as an employer? Are there any financial incentives? What is a training contract? How does training commence?

    There are four parts to the Australian Apprenticeship Training Information Service's induction package. They are Part One: About the AAT Info website; Part Two: About training packages; Part three: Key organisations; and Part Four: Statistics. They are presented in word format so that staff, trainers or managers can copy and paste individual pages into existing induction materials.

    This page provides information for employers on Australian Apprenticeships incentives and subsidies. Financial assistance is offered for eligible employers to help reduce the cost of training. For the full range of incentives, employers can contact a local New Apprenticeships Centre; contact details are provided on the site.
