This document provides an indication of the industrial, economic and political factors and trends that may affect demand for VET in the ACT and an overview of VET and its interaction with priorities set by government. Similarly, it also provides an overview of skills shortages and a set of priorities that will guide the government funding of vocational education.

This report looks at factors that influence training expenditure. It draws from surveys, interviews and case studies across four industries - construction, retail trade, manufacturing and health and community services. Topics covered include the data that firms maintain on training activity; employer expenditure on vocational training; types of funding available; and finally, the policy changes that might encourage employers to increase their total investment in learning.

The Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) 2007 Standards for State and Territory Course Accrediting Bodies apply to course accrediting bodies that manage course accreditation under state and territory legislation. These standards focus on national consistency, client service and responsive management systems as well as specifying quality indicators and operating protocols for course accreditation functions. The standards support the national vocational education and training system by specifying:standards to be met by bodies accrediting courses; quality indicators of performance against the standards; and operating protocols for undertaking accreditation.

This website provides information on the Australian Skills Vouchers initiative. Business Skills Vouchers for Apprentices provide vouchers up to $500 to assist apprentices or newly qualified tradespeople to undertake business skills training. Work Skills Vouchers provide vouchers up to $3000 to assist Australians aged 25 and over to improve their basic skill level to Year 12 or vocational Certificate II.

This annual report provides data on the financing and accounting of Australia's public vocational education and training system. Information includes data for revenue, expenses, assets, and liabilities at the national and state and territory level, and for the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.

This paper addresses Australia's workforce threats and opportunities including global change (climate change, new technology), demographic change, economic performance and social inequality. Australia needs a workforce in which more people have skills, but also multiple and higher level skills and qualifications. It stresses the importance of increasing adult language, literacy and numeracy to enable effective educational, labour market and social participation. A matrix is included with visions, objectives, actions, and success indicators. Chapters are: meeting Australia's future skills and workforce demands; raising workforce participation; improving adult language, literacy and numeracy skills; better using skills to increase productivity; enhancing capability of the tertiary educator sector; and creating a shared agenda on workforce futures. Appendices are: costings, occupations, consultation process, regional workforce participation, international examples, workforce development case studies, and a national reform agreement for Australian workforce development.

'A strategy for the development of South Australia's workforce to 2010.' This document outlines priorities for South Australia's workforce. It identifies the actions that will be taken to create a high skill economy, provide access to quality employment and enable better workforce planning.

This consultation paper follows on from the White Paper Further Education: Raising Skills, Improving Life Chances (March 06) which set out a new approach to funding for 14-19 year-olds including a focus on employer and learner choice. This paper seeks views on the proposed reforms required to deliver the adult, employer and 14-19 year-old skills development challenges.

This document is one of three components of the 2007 Australian Qualifications Training Framework (AQTF)provided by the Department of Education, Science and Training. There are: three standards relating to training and assessment, client services and management systems; a set of quality indicators or data to be collected for continuous improvement and information for the registering body; and nine conditions of registration to be met while operating as a training provider.
